denotation and connotation – 22/09/2020

Today I learnt about the meaning between denotation and connotation.

Connotation – the meaning behind the image

The first image – 

Denotation – It is a Heinz ketchup bottle which is made up of freshly chopped tomatoes in the shape of a ketchup bottle. 

Connotation – Heinz ketchup is made up of fresh tomatoes. Making their ketchup the freshest, the best and the healthiest.

The second Image –

Denotation – It is a foot that looks bruised and . it has three bangeds o on like the adidas logo. 

Connotation  –  Adidas wants to show that other short shoes  can hurt your feet more than protecting them when using them whereas Adidas always have protection for your feet over fashion. They want to make sure that you know they care about your feet.

The third image –

Denotation – Car keys in a shape/ placed like a gun.

Connotation – Every 25 seconds someones killed by reckless driving which is why they are shaped like a gun because if you pull the trigger on the gun or you recklessly drive you can possibly kill someone. I think its an advert on driving safely.
