The way a photographer uses light for still life will add mood, give context, provide interest, and ultimately, create a dynamic still life photograph. Lighting for still life is not complicated.
This kind of lighting is used to or product photography. I adjusted the lighting on both sides of the skull and the camera to make sure that it was lit properly.
Rembrandt lighting is a standard lighting technique that is used in studio portrait photography and cinematography. It can be achieved using one light and a reflector, or two lights, and is popular because it is capable of producing images which appear both natural and compelling with a minimum of equipment.
The way to tell if you have achieved this style of lighting, is if there’s a triangle of light on the opposite site of the face from where the light source is.
Three-point lighting is a traditional method for illuminating a subject in a scene with light sources from three distinct positions. The three types of lights are key light, fill light, and backlight
For the first photo. I had a dull white backlight because I didn’t want the colours to be washed out. Whereas the last photo I put a blue tint over the backlight too. I wanted to experiment with this and I think it turned out well.
