PEER REVIEW -26/01/2021
On January 26, 2021 by Sophie MartynThis is what Lloyd who did my peer review had to say :
Artist Research: How have they researched artists in relation to the project and various tasks from the last few weeks? Is their research independent or based solely on material shown in taught sessions?
Sophie’s research is a healthy mixture of both independent and tutor lead research, it leans more towards independence because she has gone into more depth. In regards to the tasks of the last few weeks Sophie has researched relevant artists and has shown some of their images. The research is linked to Sophie’s experiments and creative outcomes as she has shown the images of the artists she has researched and shown some of hers in response. Sophie’s work remains consistent as she continuously writes in the first person making it more personal.
Context: How well has the context of the Diversity project been established and explored?
Sophie’s context for the purpose and diversity project consists of artist research relevant to the project, she has researched into Joel Pares, Jimmy Nelson, Kyle La Mere and Annie Leibovitz. Sophie has also stated what she wants to do for this project which shows her creative thinking.
Practical skills / Experimentation: How well have they used practical skills? What new skills have they learnt or applied to their creative outcomes? Do you feel their imagery is effective? How? How well is it produced technically? What areas could they improve on?
Sophie’s practical skills have allowed her to produce creative and detailed images, her stop motion shows her great practical skills. I think that Sophie’s images are very effective because they show creativity in simplicity. From a technical point of view these images are very well produced, as Sophie has shown the before and after on images she has decided to edit. Sophie’s work could be improved by adding a few more image analysis supported with her opinion of the image and of the artist.
Evaluation and analysis: Have they consistently evaluated their work? How well do you feel they have done this? Describe some examples of where they have done this well.
Sophie has consistently evaluated her work stating what she liked and what she didn’t like about her images and tasks. I feel that she has done this effectively because she uses the high-points and low points from previous shoots and projects to improve her current shoots and projects. In her write up of the abstract food task, Sophie states what she wished she had done showing her creative thinking.
I am happy with the review I got. I feel like some of my work could be improved like Lloyd said “Sophie’s work could be improved by adding a few more image analysis supported with her opinion of the image and of the artist.” I will make sure to add more image analysis to my artist research. This will help me add more to the artist reaserch becuase when I do a reserch i dont feel like I have gone into depth with my reserch and I think this will help. I plan on going back through my work and adding in artist image analyisis.
